Kimberly’s Background

As a doctoral candidate, my clinical approach is also informed by my dissertation, which explores how immersive, relationship‑based neuroscience training shapes professional identity, sense of self, and perceived clinical efficacy. This work has deepened my commitment to therapy that integrates implicit and explicit learning, nervous system regulation, and the therapist’s own embodied presence — not only to improve client outcomes, but to support clinician sustainability and reduce burnout. Together, we slow things down, listen to what your body and emotions are communicating, and gently build the capacity for regulation, connection, and choice. My approach integrates relational neuroscience, attachment theory, and trauma‑informed care to support meaningful, sustainable change.

Relational neuroscience–informed therapy can support:

  • Trauma and complex trauma (C‑PTSD)
  • Anxiety, depression, and chronic stress
  • Attachment wounds and relationship difficulties
  • Emotional overwhelm or shutdown
  • Body image concerns and disordered eating patterns
  • Feeling stuck, disconnected, or “too much” or “not enough”

By working with the nervous system, therapy becomes less about forcing change and more about creating the conditions where change can naturally emerge.

I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Western Seminary and my practice is centered on education in the art of identity formation and trauma recovery with a focus on domestic violence support. As a Nationally Certified Counselor and Supervisor, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington, and Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon, I have studied relational neuroscience immersively under Dr. Bonnie Badenoch and Story Informed Trauma Training with Byron Kehler in Story Informed Trauma Training.

My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Warner Pacific University in Portland, Oregon. I’ve worked with domestic violence advocacy groups training survivors to tell their stories with confidence, and have trained with Trauma Intervention Program. I’ve also worked with first responders, law enforcement agencies, and the community to provide training on the long-term effects of domestic abuse.

Additionally, I have trained in Brainspotting and I’m a member of the American Counseling Association.

I look forward to hearing from you.
