Redemptive Trauma Therapy

KIMBERLY’S BACKGROUND

My clinical approach is also informed by my doctoral dissertation, which explores how immersive, relationship‑based neuroscience training shapes professional identity, sense of self, and perceived clinical efficacy. This work has deepened my commitment to therapy that integrates implicit and explicit learning, nervous system regulation, and the therapist’s own embodied presence — not only to improve client outcomes, but to support clinician sustainability and reduce burnout. Together, we slow things down, listen to what your body and emotions are communicating, and gently build the capacity for regulation, connection, and choice. My approach integrates relational neuroscience, attachment theory, and trauma‑informed care to support meaningful, sustainable change.

Graduating with a Master of Arts in Counseling, a nationally certified clinical mental health program from Western Seminary in April 2019. I have pursued an education in relational neuroscience working specifically on identity formation and trauma recovery with a focus on domestic violence recovery and support. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and Supervisor, holding dual licensure in Oregon as a Licensed Professional counselor and in Washington as a Mental Health Counselor.

I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon in 2015. I have worked with domestic violence advocacy groups training survivors to tell their stories with confidence, and have trained with Trauma Intervention Program. I have also worked with first responders, law enforcement agencies, and the community to provide training on the long-term effects of domestic abuse.

My training and passion is for people. I want you to learn to thrive while encouraging healthy coping skills, attachment, boundaries, and decision-making skills. I often utilize an integrative approach that focuses on psychodynamic therapies, mindful awareness, attachment, and the science of interpersonal neurobiology. I work from the perspective that people make decisions based on the information available to them, and I seek to empower all of my clients through education.

Relational neuroscience–informed therapy can support:

  • Trauma and complex trauma (C‑PTSD)
  • Anxiety, depression, and chronic stress
  • Attachment wounds and relationship difficulties
  • Emotional overwhelm or shutdown
  • Body image concerns and disordered eating patterns
  • Feeling stuck, disconnected, or “too much” or “not enough”

By working with the nervous system, therapy becomes less about forcing change and more about creating the conditions where change can naturally emerge.

Additionally, I am certified in SYMBIS Premarital Counseling and Gottman Level One Marriage Therapy.

I am a member of the American Counseling Association.
